Bill qualified as an architect in 1976. In his 45 year career he has worked for large commercial practices such as Bernard Engle Partnership, GMW and Ove Arup & Partners. He spent 12 years working in the Arabian Gulf States over 3 separate periods. In the 1980s he was a Consultant to The Technical Office of H.H. The Emir of Qatar on the University of Qatar project completed in 1986.

 

In 1988 he started his practice in London, Bill Chew Associates Ltd (which later became Bill Chew Architect Ltd). The practice specialised in projects in the commercial, leisure, retail and residential sectors.

 

More recently from 2008 to 2011 Bill was the Chief Architect to a Palestian practice, Arab Architects, based in Doha working on 4 major projects on the Qatar University Campus, completed prior to his departure.

 

In a varied career he has designed and supervised the construction major buildings working alongside other consultants. He has had a long and successful record of project, personnel, organisational and financial management. When he was working as a Consultant to the Government of Qatar on Qatar University Bill was responsible for the quality control of the building finishes and FF&E Package for the entire site. He travelled the world for a number of years on behalf of the Government visiting factories and plant in pursuit of this remit.

 

Bill Chew offers a consultancy service to clients undertaking a new project. Each project is different and unique. Bill can offer a Client impartial advice and guidance ranging from selecting and appointing architects and consultants to advice on pre-planning and planning proposals, listed building and conservation area applications, building control approvals, feasibility studies, options appraisals, sustainable design, tendering and procurement issues, specification writing, pre-purchase design advice, site monitoring and quality control procedures.

 

The consultancy advice would be based on a time basis depending on the Client’s project requirements and objectives.
